'There is an increasing sophistication in the preparation and presentation of Balinese food.' [Australian Gourmet Traveller]
The Casa Luna Cooking School classes provide a fascinating insight into Balinese life, beliefs and culture through learning about its food, cooking and culinary myths.
Class discussions are relaxed and friendly and are held in the lush tropical setting of the family compound of hosts, Ketut Suardana and Janet De Neefe. They include specific references to the role of food in Balinese society, its ceremonial use and religious importance.
Participants learn about the exotic herbs and spices used in ceremonial and everyday Balinese dishes and are encouraged to actively help prepare the lavish Balinese feast that will then be enjoyed with a glass or two of the local rice wine, or homemade hibiscus tea.
Written notes and recipes are provided in each class and people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy the classes, which are conducted in English. No part of the class may be reproduced. You are invited to take photos and video tape parts of the class but tape recording is not allowed.

Picture this….the
sun sets behind the picturesque Mount Agung….. You walk to the Honeymoon Guesthouse in Jalan Bisma and are greeted by the Casa Luna team. Take a sip of hibiscus tea, and then stand up to sharpen your culinary skills. Start with the observing the art of making one of Bali’s most celebrated dishes, ‘Smoked Duck’ and follow up making a host of vibrant side dishes, all to be eaten with fragrant rice. Once you are finished with the cooking, sit back and enjoy your smoked duck feast, washed down with a sinful dessert mix of coconut ice-cream and rice wine. And if the wine’s taken its toll (even if it hasn’t), we’ll give you a recipe booklet to remember us by. Priced at just Rp. 350,000 each, with room for only 12 participants, you wouldn’t want to miss out. Includes: Smoked Duck Feast, dessert, refreshments, recipe booklet. Where:
