Fast becoming Ubud’s version of Paris' legendary Les Deux Magots, it is the place to be seen, where the minds, hearts and bellies of readers, writers, thinkers, hipsters and munchers alike are nourished. And if that’s not enough, Bar Luna’s trained baristas will serve you the best coffee on the island, the beverage of great conversation. Open 3pm – 11pm daily. Happy Hour with two for one cocktails (55,000 rp) nightly from 5-7 pm.

Every Tuesday and Thursday night, Bar Luna hosts talented writers and artists alongside some of the island's finest musicians, in what has become Bali's hippest literary salon and hot-bed of wild debates, readings, performance and meaningful conversation. From Booker-prize winners to celebrated poets, from dynamic singers to guitar-strumming geniuses, it’s all happening at Bar Luna.

Mon 01 – 8.00pm -Telling Tales & Open Mic – an extraordinary evening of storytelling & Open Mic with Alexa Bauer. All performers welcome.

Wed 03 – Widi Noor & Tiga Suara, Widi Noor, Ami Rosady and Tito Jonathan play smooth jazz and swing that will make you purr!

Thu 04 – 7.15pm – Feature Film – Awakenings (1990) starring Robin Williams. Academy Awards nominated film based on an extraordinary true story, adapted from Oliver Sacks’ 1973 memoir of the same title. Robin Williams and Robert De Niro interpret a maverick neurologist and a patient whose life he changes during the summer of ’69. Introduced by Gianluca Jandelli.

Wed 10 – 8.00pm – Unb’rocken Band – Ubud’s own group of four fab musicians plays rock & blues.

Thu 11 –8.00pm -Benkadi, Celebrating Percussion – the exciting sounds of multi instrumentalists Catur Sang Klana Wijaya from Java, Indonesia and Patricio Zuniga Labarca from Chile, South America on dununba, fulani, guitar, drums, berimbau and vocals.

Mon 15 – 8.00pm – Poetry & Open Mic – Soul Share – join Ka Mau Abayomi, Poetry Slam winner, hip hop artist, teacher and author for an evening of poetry, spoken work, song, music and great dialogue in a relaxed vibe with fellow performers. All performers welcome.

Wed 17– 8.00pm – Nusa Trio, world music. All musicians are members of the well known band Afronesia. Nusa Trio includes Agus Priyo Anggodo from Malang in East Java on bass and guitar, Kuwat Widodo from Jogjakarta in Central Java on violin and guitar and Aaron Thompson from the US on cajon, conga and djembe.

Thu 18 – 8.00pm – Unb’rocken Band – Ubud’s own group of four fab musicians plays rock & blues.

Sat 20 – Bali High – A Night of Tropical Madness, Cabaret with Helen O’Connor & Julie Haseler. Dinner 6.30pm, show at 8.00pm.

Tue 23 – 7.30pm – Festival 4 Play – introducing the work of the talented writers who will be attending the 2014 Ubud Writers & Readers Festival.

Wed 24 – 7.30pm – Cineclub film, Alliance Francaise Bali – Amour (2012). Multiple award winning film by Austrian film maker Michael Haneke about the impact of chronic illness on an elderly couple.

Thu 25 – 7.30pm – Steve Robinson, Singer / songwriter who performs in Australia with Psychedelic Jazz, Blues and Roots band Money Killed Jonny.

Fri 26 – Bali High – A Night of Tropical Madness, Cabaret with Helen O’Connor & Julie Haseler. Dinner 6.30pm, show at 8.00pm. Bookings essential.

Mon 29 – 7.30pm – Very Thai, Very Volatile: 20 Years of Change in Popular Culture by Philip Cornwel-Smith, a Bangkok based British writer and author of Very Thai: Everyday Popular Culture, who will give an illustrated talk about the changes he has witnessed over many years living and working in Bangkok.

Tue 30 – 8.00pm – Inner World Music with Yoyok Harness, Peter Andrew, accomplished multi instrumentalist & friends on flutes, dulcimers, sitar, tablas, didgeridoo and more.
